i was returning to plymouth from northants one pleasant sunday evening with a mate, sitting at about 90 odd on the m4 just after swindon, when i noticed three sets of light approaching at a rapid pace!!
As the first car levelled my side window i noticed it was a 90 ish spec 911 turbo and realising that all three sets of lights looked the same and there was a porsche owners club do on at silverstone, presummed that the other two were similair motors!
I'm afraid thats when i flipped!
I was in my old 4x4 saff (j606neg) which at the time was running @545bhp and was tres rapid!
After dropping into third and flooring it everything appeared to go like the millenium falcon on the jump to light speed behind us (including my new found german friends!), earning the car the nick name "the mothership", which is still remembered to this day!!!
The speedo was bouncing on the pin long before the adjusted rev limiter (then the revs were bouncing off of that) and it wasn't until zany miles an hour that i noticed one of the porsches clawing back!!!
At which point i had to scrub off some speed to turn left on to the M5!!!!!!
They all carried on towards sheep land (or the one in view did anyway)
Gutted that the old lady isn't still with us, as it was my fault! (well sort of) But thats another story!
